Holiday Packaging x Bare Minerals

Last Winter, I was commissioned by Bare Minerals to work on a couple of patterns for their 2016 Holidays – Xmas collection. The brief was called “Bare in the woods” and the story was the following: “Healthy-looking skin glowing with laughter and cheer. Rosy cheeks fresh from the cold. Brushed metallic lids that flicker in the…

Light Study #03
Light Study #02
Light Study #01
It’s the feeling of when it’s dark in a new place that isn’t home and everything is a bit intimidating and foreign but there is a small light that was left on for you to settle in and it feels quite simply better just because it reminds you of something you know and feels familiar but you can’t really put your finger on it, but it’s enough to make you feel safe and ease into it.
Entering the promise of Spring, getting into the light, the tender greens and pinks… this is my season, and there is a tiny person inside of me screaming with excitement! All the flowers, the different shades of green, the long evenings, the new warmth in the air, the smells, the birds, it feels like being reborn again, it feels like I’ve made it to the other side, and from now on, everything will be ok again. Everything will fall into place, everything will make sense. This is what I‘m feeling at the moment and may nothing shake that belief out of my and your tender little heart 💖🌱
A couple of cute flower spots I did in this month @real_simple issue with AD by @deanna_lowe. Love how it turned out. This kind of assignment is so much fun: I get the layout with all the pictures in and color palette in place, and I create these illustrations based on that, and try to make it look cute and appealing, but also keep it exciting throughout the pages and also homogenous like one little family. It’s the same kind of work like when I illustrate a book. Sometimes it’s nice to wrap my brain around an existing color palette and add another color to complement it and make it shine. In this case I felt the hot pink was a good addition to the peachy/salmon tones! 💖
Some drawings of a bunch of tulips which included frayed tulips. When they were closed they all looked like the usual kind, if not very bulbous and rounder than usual. When they started to bloom throughout the week I realized some were frayed, and I got curious, because it looked so unusual, and I wasn’t sure what I thought. They were really intriguing, the shape was way more generous than tulips, almost like roses, or peonies, with lush and thick petals, very sculptural, and the borders were curled, sometimes frayed and sometimes not, so I wanted to try to draw them to get a sense of them. I don’t know if you get the sensorial joy that I felt observing them through the drawings, but I tried my best to express it.
